FELTS & WIRES

Picture
Many references in Europe for a wide range of products…
  • Press Section Felts
  • Drying Wires
  • Marking felts, wool or synthetic
  • Special products on demand

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE FELT AND WIRE RANGE:
Wool or synthetic composition
Felts with or without joints
Wires weaved or with needling web

WHAT ARE FELTS USED FOR ?

Explained simply, the felt is a transporter and a filter that carries the paper from press to press after having removed the maximum amount of water.

The paper mill can be divised into 4 sections:

- Forming section
- Press Section
- Dryer Section
- Marking/Glazing Section

Our felts are used for pressing (Press Section Felts), drying (Drying Wires) and marking/glazing the paper (Finishing Felts).

The production chain

  • Beaming
The operation of winding warp yarns under equal tension, arranged both parallel to each other and in a certain order.

  • Weaving
A fabric is created from warp threads, weft threads and a weave (pattern) and must meet the following criteria:
- Length
- Width
- Density
- Surface quality
- Permeability prior to layer input

  • Mending
The repair of imperfections that may have occured during weaving, (such as tears, broken yarns, tight spots and similar defects) and monitoring of certain parameters (length, width..).

  • Thermofixing
This operation consists of heating the fabric on a calender at certain temperature and at a constant particular tension in order to obtain:
- Dimensional stability
- Flattened surface prior to needling

  • Needling
  • The process of bonding a veil of fibre onto a woven base fabric. The fibres are chosen according to the type of base fabric and the desired surface quality.

  • Fulling
A finishing process during which the woolen felts are subjected to friction, moisture and heat which cause them to mat and shrink. In so doing, the fabric is denser and more compact.

  • Bleaching
Process consiisting of degreasing & removing fibre residues (natural oils / artificial lubricants) before drying.

  • Finishing
-  Cutting the fabric according to the client’s request.
- Gluing and joining the edges for better resistance
- Particular finishings

- Packaging
